Preliminary Task
Names of other group members: Alonzo Walters, Sean Brennan, Ivor Griffins, Ryan McNeillWhat did you learn about the cameras and editing software during the preliminary task?
We learned the importance of different camera shots and the effect they can have on the scene like taking as many shots as possible from different angles, so when editing there is a wider variety of shots to choose from. Also the editing software can be used
to fix flaws of the camera work and enhance effects.
We used handheld cameras to record the scene and a tripod to keep it stationary we also used the two of the three main shots of medium shot and close up, theses all added different effects to the scene, however we didn’t use a long shot.

In the filming and editing of your project, what worked well and what could have been improved?
The quality of the camera wasn’t very good so that is something that could have been improved by using a better camera. The audio quality could have been improved with the use of an external microphone. Also if we were in a studio or had the equipment lighting could have been improved which would also improve the quality of the picture. The variety of camera shots worked well when we come to editing because we had a wide choice of shots.
Give a detailed, specific example of how you have used a shot/ reverse shot combination in your film?
We used are shot reverse shot in our scene by having a police interview. We would have a shot of the police interviewer and then switch straight to a shot of the criminal then back to the police interviewer.

Give a detailed, specific example of how you achieved match cuts during the editing process?
We edited the transitions between every shot which created a smooth professional cut from one shot to the other for e.g. the first scene with Ivor bringing the antagonist the cut is edited effectively showing professionalism.

How did you make sure that you didn’t break the 180 degree rule? Or if you broke it, what have you learnt from this?
As we were doing a police interview scene we made sure we followed the rule by using shots from both characters point of view and not passing the 180 degree mark, it was vital to use this for our task to look professional as we were following Hollywood blockbuster standards.
